This picture – what I call my “chicken legs pose” – was taken quite recently. Where was I?

Gringo - aka Scott - was born outside of Chicago and has lived most of his life in or around big cities. He spent two years of his adult life in Mexico City (talk about big cities!) and fell in love with Mexican food and culture all while weathering the challenges of life in a city with over 20 million people. Life's unpredictable journey has since brought him to Tennessee, where he is close to family and to the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. Scott also enjoys movies, hiking, top ten lists, and travel in general. View all posts by gringopotpourri
I know…. but it wouldn’t be fair since you told me 🙂
How very sporting of you, Jenny! 🙂
Update: This has been SOLVED! On Facebook, my friend Jose (of “Interview with a Venezuelan” fame) correctly guessed the location as Centennial Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
The structure behind me, the Nashville Parthenon, was a faithful reconstruction of the Athens original, built a century ago for Nashville’s Centennial Fair. While the Nashville Parthenon doesn’t have the crumbling, hilltop, Mediterranean ambiance of its Greek counterpart, it does feature a small art gallery inside, as well as an impressive reconstruction of the Goddess Athena (the Athena statue in Athens has basically been lost to the elements over many centuries).
