Where am I in the photo below?

Gringo - aka Scott - was born outside of Chicago and has lived most of his life in or around big cities. He spent two years of his adult life in Mexico City (talk about big cities!) and fell in love with Mexican food and culture all while weathering the challenges of life in a city with over 20 million people. Life's unpredictable journey has since brought him to Tennessee, where he is close to family and to the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. Scott also enjoys movies, hiking, top ten lists, and travel in general. View all posts by gringopotpourri
This one didn’t take long at all. Congratulations to Jules, aka “TheSnaggler,” who correctly guessed via Facebook that this photo was taken in Yellowstone National Park. In the pic, I’m posing in front of Lone Star Geyser, a solitary geyser several miles from the majority of the park’s geothermal hotspots. Lone Star Geyser erupts every three hours, and I just happened to arrive 20 minutes before its early-afternoon display. Just enough time to have a snack and set up my tripod for the perfect vantage point.
BTW, I sometimes talk smack about the U.S., but the country’s National Park System is one example of something that is managed really well. I’ve visited many national parks and have enjoyed every one. Yellowstone, of course, is one of the greatest.
Thanks for guessing Jules!
Woops, to make it official: Yellowstone! 😀
